Why a flue pipe?
When you need hot water and open the tap, the combustion process takes place in the water heater. Flue gases are released during this process. To ensure that these flue gases are safely vented outside, you need a flue pipe. If you do not have this, it can cause serious health problems.
It is therefore very important to have a good and reliable flue pipe installed on your water heater. All internal water heaters are equipped with a safety device that checks whether the flue gases are properly removed to the outside. If the water heater doesn’t detect this, it will always switch off after some time for your own safety.
Most of our flue pipes are easy to assemble so you can do it yourself, no need to worry about it.
It is important to know when purchasing a flue pipe whether it must be concentric or single-walled, depending on your water heater.
Concentric flue pipe
A concentric flue pipe is used for room sealed water heaters because a room sealed water heaters draws fresh air from outside your home. With a concentric flue pipe, the flue pipe has an inner and outer pipe, a so-called double channel system. Fresh air is drawn in through the outer pipe and fed in. Exhaust gases go out through the inner pipe. The fresh air and exhaust gases therefore do not flow through the same pipe.
Not only is a concentric flue pipe easy to install, it is also safer than a single wall system. Should a leak occur in the concentric flue pipe, the flue gases will enter the outer pipe through which fresh air flows to the appliance. If there is too high a recirculation level, the water heater will malfunction, so than you can take immediate action and repair the problem or have it repaired. This greatly reduces the risk of danger.
This way, the hot exhaust pipe is also insulated with air and the outer pipe will never get hot. Another safety benefit!
Single-walled flue pipe
The most common system is a single-walled flue pipe. An open water heater uses a single-walled system because it draws fresh air from the room in which the water heater is installed. This is also the reason why you must ventilate the room in which the open water heater is located. Because of the single-walled flue pipe, only the exhaust gases are led out.
In addition to concentric flue pipes and single-walled flue pipes, we also supply exhaust sets, roof duct sets, wall duct sets and rain caps.
