Instantaneous water heaters and storage devices
A water heater is also called a Instantaneous water heater and a boiler a storage device. The reason for this is that in a water heater the water is heated while it flows through the device and that in a boiler the water is stored and heated in an insulated vessel.
The advantage of water heaters is that the hot water is in principle infinite, since it is heated while it flows through the water heater. The advantage of boilers is that more hot water is available at the same time, as it is already in stock.
Types of energy sources
We have three types of energy sources for water heaters, namely propane gas, natural gas and electricity. All boilers in our range are electrically powered. On the pages about propane-, natural gas- and electric water heaters and electric boilers you can read about the advantages and disadvantages of the various energy sources.
Amount of hot water
With boilers, the amount of hot water depends on the size of the boiler tank. In our range you will find water heaters up to and including 150 liters. This means that the boiler keeps 150 liters of water at the right temperature and that you can use this amount of hot water in one go. With water heaters the amount of hot water is infinite, as long as water flows through the device, it is heated.
Purchase and use costs
Water heaters are generally cheaper to purchase than boilers and the energy consumption of water heaters compared to boilers is often less. This is because boilers constantly maintain the temperature of the water in the vessel, which costs energy. On the other hand, boilers can supply more water at the same time and water can be tapped at several points at the same time without any problems.
